What it’s about

The single honours LLB Sports Law degree will provide you with a study of Law, which meets the requirements of the legal profession (the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board) to provide exemption from the academic stage of training.

By studying a unique combination of modules relevant to Sports Law you can develop expertise in this exciting and unique area of legal practice.  There also exists a vast range of career opportunities outside the legal profession.

What you do

As a 'qualifying' law degree the foundations of legal knowledge (modules prescribed by the professional bodies) must be studied. In the first year of study this will include Contract and Criminal law and in the second year modules such as Tort and Land will be studied. Your final year (which contributes 70% towards your degree classification is where the sports law element of the award is undertaken and this will include specialist modules including the Legal Regulation of Sport and Sport the Individual and the Law.

It is the final year that makes this award distinctive. Whilst lectures are very important, the main emphasis is on the workshops and group learning. Workshops take a variety of forms: discussions, presentations by one or more students or tasks such as tackling a previously unseen problems. These develop both your legal capabilities and skills.
